Chu Yu, despite being a handsome and well-born but utterly lazy student, was overwhelmingly voted Jianing Private School’s "school flower." It was widely known that Chu Yu was at odds with Lu Shi, the award-winning, reserved, and indifferent top student of the second year, often referred to as the school's "school grass." This perception shifts dramatically one afternoon when Chu Yu is witnessed pleading with Lu Shi behind the school, asking for a bite and promising gentleness. Lu Shi obliges by offering his finger, remarking that a little pain is acceptable. Chu Yu awakens to a strange bloodline that necessitates daily blood consumption for survival. He discovers that while others' blood is unpalatable, Lu Shi's is uniquely sweet and fragrant. A kiss between them leads to Lu Shi's lip splitting, drawing blood that Chu Yu compulsively licks and bites. Lu Shi responds with amusement, calling Chu Yu greedy. The narrative also touches upon Chu Yu's horror at his awakened condition and a sense of divine unfairness.
