"Greetings to the Princess."
Li Xuan looked up only to find a different sort of glance from Yu Hongchang. Her eyes, shrouded by distrust, flickered between Li Xuan and Xue Yunrou.
"What’s the matter, Your Highness?" Xue Yunrou pretended not to know, and said, "May I invite Your Highness to join me in the Shangqing Hall for tea?"
Yu Hongchang’s expression seemed to indicate she had an inkling; her face alternately became flushed and pale. Eventually, she gritted her teeth and turned her gaze away from Li Xuan. "I’ve met both the junior Heavenly Masters in Longhu Mountain before, and have sought Taoist techniques from them. Now that I’m here, I must honor them with a stick of incense."
With a straight face, she walked into the hall to offer incense to the junior Heavenly Masters. After paying her respects, she said to Yunrou with a smile, "Do as you please Yunrou; we have a sisterly bond, and there is no need for you to accompany me specifically. You have many guests today; as the junior Heavenly Master, you had better not be rude."
Xue Yunrou’s lips twitched; she knew Yu Hongchang was deliberately sending her off.
This woman even intentionally raised her voice, making sure the elders and seniors around Tianshi’s mansion could hear her.
In the past, Xue Yunrou would never allow Yu Hongchang to have her way. But today was different due to the special circumstances and the arrival of numerous important guests. Knowing that nothing could occur between them under the watchful eyes of the crowd, she accepted Yu Hongchang’s ploy.
After glancing at Li Xuan with a warning look, Xue Yunrou then walked away.
Not long after Xue Yunrou left, Yu Hongchang looked at Li Xuan with a sneaky smile and said, " Earl Jingan, why are you standing so far away? It is very unsafe here with all sorts of people around. I can only feel secure if you are by my side. You haven’t been doing your job as a bodyguard very well recently, have you?"
Upon hearing this, Li Xuan gave a bitter smile. He glanced at the three high-level officials of the Fourth Gate standing behind Yu Hongchang. After hesitating for a moment, he put his hand on the Bixue Leique Sword and approached Yu Hongchang.
Yu Hongchang gestured with her eyes to the people around her, asking them to take a few steps back. As she continued walking, she quietly asked, "Xuan, have you and Yunrou, done that thing yet?"
Li Xuan almost choked on his own saliva. He cleared his throat a few times, thought for a while, and then responded confidently, "I beg your pardon, Princess, but your servant fails to understand your meaning. Furthermore, I am engaged to Yunrou, as you already know."
So, whatever happened between them was totally acceptable, and nothing to be ashamed of.
"You!"
Yu Hongchang felt exasperated and slightly regretful for allowing Li Xuan to get away from her. Whenever he is given some slack, he behaves like a wild horse running free in the grassland.
She then turned her attention to the bite mark on Li Xuan’s neck, which was concealed by his clothing, saying:"Xuan, was it some cat indulging in a secret rendezvous that bit you here? Does it hurt? Come here, I’ll apply some medicine."
Li Xuan quickly covered his collar, responding with a courteous yet awkward smile,"How could I trouble the Princess? I have my own ointment, and it’s of the finest quality."
-The decision to use it, however, was his alone.
Without uttering a word, Yu Hongchang simply stared at him, causing Li Xuan to feel incredibly nervous. Nevertheless, he steadfastly met her gaze, refusing to back down.
Li Xuan reasoned that even though he wasn’t capable of giving Xue Yunrou any status or any help, he couldn’t even guard this mark, then he would be utterly worthless.
This was the only memento that Yunrou had left on his body.
After scrutinizing Li Xuan for a long time, Yu Hongchang finally huffed and looked away, saying, "Send someone to tell Yunrou that I’ve been feeling unwell and need to go to their Hualong Pool immediately."
Even though the Hualong Pool was also located on Longhu Mountain, it was situated approximately seventy miles from Tianshi’s mansion due to the vast expanse of the mountain, which had several peaks.
