Ryuji Takasu, a high school student whose naturally intimidating eyes clash with his gentle personality, enters his second year with low expectations for romance and few friends. His day takes an unexpected turn when he encounters Taiga Aisaka, a notorious, high-risk student also in his class and a friend of his crush, Minori Kushieda. Taiga, who has moved out due to family issues and now lives next door to Ryuji, immediately dislikes him. Discovering each other's romantic interests—Ryuji's for Minori and Taiga's for his best friend, Yusaku Kitamura—they strike a deal. Ryuji agrees to become Taiga's personal servant, performing chores for her as she manipulates his desire to get closer to Minori. As Taiga becomes a constant presence in Ryuji's home, he begins to see a different side of her. They also aim to improve how others perceive them and their burgeoning, peculiar relationship. However, their unusual dynamic doesn't go unnoticed, sparking curiosity and rumors among their classmates.
