Natasha awakens from a vivid nightmare in which she witnessed a half-wolf, half-human creature killing someone. When the creature notices and pursues her, she is captivated by its beauty before an alarm jolts her awake. At school, she meets Nathan Jones Davis, a new student who bears a striking resemblance to the creature from her dream. His presence triggers an inexplicable tingling sensation that causes her to avoid him. One day, cheerleaders steal Natasha's clothes while she changes for physical education. Nathan discovers her predicament and helps her, preventing the cheerleaders from humiliating her with photographs. Following this incident, Nathan and Natasha begin dating, and their relationship becomes intimate. When Nathan suddenly becomes absent from school, Natasha worries he has abandoned her. Upon his return, however, something appears fundamentally different about him. Despite his unchanged appearance, his words and actions are distinctly altered, leading Natasha to a troubling realization: the person before her may not be Nathan.
